WorkCover  has now identified 27 Local Council areas in NSW that are at risk of the loose-fill asbestos (commonly referred to as the Mr Fluffy houses).  Currently the houses at risk are mostly in the southern and eastern regions of NSW AND specifically Ku-ring-gai, Manly, North Sydney and Warringah Councils have identified properties in their regions that could be at risk.

Free testing for the loose-fill asbestos will need to be carried out by qualified asbestos inspectors through the local councils.

If on being tested a property is indentified as containing the asbestos, the property will be uninhabitable and the structure will need to be demolished and the block of land completely sanitized.

The free testing has been extended to 1 August 2016 and currently is only available to those properties that fall into the 27 local council areas already identified.
